About Us | Meet Our Staff | Helen Dixon
Volunteer and Health Lead
I am Helen Dixon, and I have been with Intact since April 2009. I began as the Volunteer Coordinator and now I am the Volunteer and Health Lead – so as my title has grown, so has the project.
Outside of Intact I love spending time with my family and friends and especially Rosie Mae, a rescue cat who I love very much. I live with my partner Martin and his son Ben who is 13yrs, we live in Lancaster.
I am a Yoga teacher in the evenings, teaching three classes a week and enjoy studying anatomy to make me a better teacher.
I have recently been studying at Edge Hill University around management in the third sector which I have been able to apply in my role at Intact.
I gained experience as a young student by volunteering in a variety of settings, such as looking after horses, befriender on a mental health ward, running a night shelter for homeless people in Blackpool city centre, a hospice, a steward at a fitness event, supporting people with disabilities on a break, and volunteered in a primary school.
All these opportunities gave me confidence, experience, and at times lead me into more studies or employment, so volunteering is something I really value.
